Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride MD
MMedSci (neurology), MMedSci (nutrition)
Dr. Campbell-McBride graduated with Honours as a Medical Doctor in 1984 from Bashkir Medical University in Russia. In the following years she gained a Postgraduate MMedSci Degree in Neurology.
After practising for five years as a Neurologist and three years as a Neurosurgeon she started a family and moved to the UK. Fairly shortly after that her son was diagnosed autistic, which prompted an intensive study into causes and treatments of autism. It was during this time that Dr. Campbell-McBride developed her theories on the relationship between neurological disorders and nutrition, and completed a second Postgraduate Degree in Human Nutrition at Sheffield University, UK.
Having treated her son off the autistic spectrum, Dr. Campbell-McBride has returned to practice in 2000 and runs the Cambridge Nutrition Clinic. She has specialised in using nutritional approach as a treatment, and has become recognised as one of the world’s leading experts in treating children and adults with learning disabilities and other mental disorders, as well as children and adults with digestive and immune disorders.
In 2004 she has published her first book Gut And Psychology Syndrome. Natural Treatment Of Autism, ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Depression And Schizophrenia where she explores the connection between the patient’s physical state and brain function. The book gives full details of the GAPS Nutritional Protocol, highly successful in treating patients with learning disabilities and other mental problems.

At the end of 2007 her second book was published: Put You Heart In Your Mouth! What Really Is Heart Disease And What We Can Do To Prevent And Even Reverse It. Dr Campbell-McBride explained: “GAPS is my life’s work. However, GAPS diet includes plentiful supply of natural animal fats and cholesterol rich foods, such as eggs. We live in a world of fat phobia and cholesterol phobia. So, naturally many patients were asking her the same question: am I going to develop heart disease following GAPS nutritional protocol? In order to explain the concept fully to her patients, she decided to write a book on this subject.”
We all know somebody who suffers from heart disease or who has died from it, including members of our own families. Heart disease is our modern plague. We hear about it in the popular media, every time we see a doctor, every time we talk to friends and neighbours, and every time we buy our food. It has become a background noise for many of us, so we don’t stop and think: what on earth is heart disease and should I be concerned about it?

This website is devoted to Dr Natasha and Peter Campbell-McBride who know too well what it is like to work as a team in implementing the GAPS protocol and the importance of supporting one another during the process. Supportive families make for an easier transition in implementing the GAPS Protocol and establishing a healthier way of life. For all those who follow the GAPS Protocol, we are grateful to them both for not only pioneering the way but for teaching us how to do it for ourselves and show us all that with the right level of support and commitment, it is possible.
This site is established to support and aid individuals following ‘The Gut and Psychology Syndrome Protocol’ by Dr N. Campbell-McBride and is by no means a sustitute for all the information contained within the book. Please refer to the book for a more indepth understanding.
